Day 1: Phnom Penh city tour
Pick you up and drive to visit the S12 or local name Tuol Sleng prison and the “killing field”, these places remind visitors about the Cambodia’s tragic history during Khmer Rouge regime from 1975-1979. You will hear our guide explain about the darkness time in Cambodia related to Pol Pot, a teacher who controled over the country and implemented a plan to turn Cambodia into an agricuture-based society. Its estimated that during this time over a fifth of the country’s population perished by overwork, starvation and execution. In the afternoon, continue the journey to visit Wat Phnom, the cradle of Phnom Penh city. Wat Phnom is located on a man made hill, 27 m high in the middle of Phnom Penh. The pagoda was built for the first time in 1372 to worship four Buddhe statues said to have been deposited by the water of Mekong river. Overnight in Phnom Penh.
Day 2: Phnom Penh
After breakfast, our tour guide will pick you up for visitng the Royal Palace, which was mainly built by the French in 1866 on the site of the Old Town. The main building on the compound is the Throne Room, which was built in 1917 in Khmer style; it has a tiered roof and a 59 meter tower, influenced by Angkor’s Bayon Temple. Then, we will stop by the Silver pagoda which was original built in 1892 to enshrine royal ashes and then rebuild by king Sihanouk in 1962. The pagoda’s steps are made of Italian Marble, and inside, its floor is comprised of more than 5000 silvers tiles. After lunch in a local restaurant, we will continue to the Rusian market which is very famous for lots of local products. In the late afternoon, walking along the river bank to enjoy the locals activities during the sunset. Overnight in Phnom Penh.
Day 3: Phnom Penh-Siem Riep
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Phnom Penh airport (another option for traveling to Siem Riep will be by car. It will take about 6 hours) to take a domestic flight to Siem Riep. Your new tour guide will transfer you to the hotel. Depending on the time we reach Siem Riep so we can start the tour to visit the Floating Village in Tonle Sap Lake, visiting the floating village where you can see how the people from a real Cambodian village live their daily lives. Note (Sometimes in the dry season, its imposible to visit the floating village. We can have another option by taking the tuk tuk tour around Siem Riep town). Overnight in Siem Riep.
Day 4: Temple tour
Begin the day with a trip to the South Gate of Angkor Thom, Bayon Temple (unique for its 54 towers decorated with over 200 smiling faces of Avolokitesvara), Terrace of Elephants, Terrace of of Leper King.Then, driving to Ta Prom, one of the most beautiful temples in the area. After lunch, continue the tour to visit Angkor Wat, one of the favorite monuments among visitors. Angkor Wat is the Kingdom of King Suryavarman II from 12th century. The largest of Angkor group and one of the most intact, is an architectural masterpiece. Its perfection in composition, balance, proportions, relief’s and sculture make it one of the finest monuments in the world. Return to the hotel. Overnight in Siem Riep.
Day 5: Departure
After breakfast, time at leisure. Check out your hotel and the guide will transfer you to the international aairport. End of the services.
