Hoi An is located in Quang Nam province and home to approximately 120,000 people. The city possessed the largest harbour in Southeast Asia in the 1st century and was known as Champa city. While serious shipping business has since moved to Da Nang, the heart of the city is still the Old Town, full of winding lanes and Chinese-styled shop houses, which are particularly atmospheric in the evening as the sun goes down.
